HW

Congratulations!!

We made it through another great novel!

Your homework for the weekend:

Option one:  Bradbury makes a lot of predictions about the future.  What predictions have come true?  What predictions have not come true?

Option two:

As Montag 'walks off into the sunset' with his new group of friends, they set out to create something new out of the ashes.  They are like the fictional phoenix.  What other movies or stories use the idea of a phoenix?

Have a great weekend and stay cool,
Ms. Betsy

HW

The end of the year is quickly approaching.  With that in mind, please remember to be kind and thorough even when things are stressful.  Take your time, breath and know that we are all in this together.

Your homework for tonight:

Option one:
1.   Other than censorship what problems exist in the dystopic society envisioned by Bradbury?

2.   To what extent have the Fahrenheit 451 predictions come true?

3.   What do you make of Beatty’s ability to quote literature and his desire to destroy books?

4.   Faber defines the value of books. What is it and does it apply only to books?

5.   Why do Faber and Montag feel they must change the way things are?

Option two:

What Fahrenheit 451 predictions not mentioned above have come true?

I'll see you on Tuesday,
Ms. Betsy

Good morning,

You guys had such a great energy today.  Thank you for reading and being respectful when other students are reading.

Remember, Monday there is no school.  Please do not come to the hospital.

Your homework for tonight:

Option one:  Captain Beatty is a BULLY.  At the end of A Sieve and the Sand, Beatty is bullying Montag.  Describe the different ways Beatty is torturing Guy Montag.

Good morning,

This fog is beginning to make NYC feel like London.  If you don't know anything about London, remember what Faber said about books. We can learn a lot about other countries just by READING about them!

Your homework for tonight:

Option one:  Montag became very frustrated with the women in his house.  What did he do to deal with his frustration?  What would you have done?

Option two:  What are some similarities between Montag's two way radio and something you use everyday?  What are some of the differences?

Get some rest,

Ms. Betsy

Good morning,

What a wonderful morning of fog and reading!  You were patient and attentive and I appreciate that.

Your homework for tonight:

Option two:  Describe Mrs. Bowles' parenting style.  You can include a picture.

See you tomorrow,
Ms. Betsy
