You had some really great final projects today and I'm very proud of you. I will be updating the blog over break so make sure to keep checking in.
Your homework for tonight and the weekend:
Option one: During the fall 2014 Ebola outbreak in West Africa,
in a presentation to the CDC, President Barack Obama stated that “the world is
looking to" the United States to lead international efforts to combat the
virus. President Obama went on to add that the Unites States is ready to take a
leadership role and to commit resources to help contain the spread of the virus.
Do you agree or disagree with the President’s statement that the US should lead
the effort to control the spread of the virus? Why or why not? Write a
fully-developed paragraph in response to these questions. Support your position
with specific details (quotes not required) from the book, as well as your
learning and experience.
Option two: Throughout the book, different characters must
confront the conflict between wanting to keep animals healthy and having to
harm animals sometimes in their pursuit of scientific research. Some critics
believe that euthanizing animals infected with diseases potentially lethal to
humans is a necessary evil for the safety of the human population Write a
fully-developed paragraph in which you defend, challenge, or qualify
this position. Support your position with specific details (quotes not
required) from the book, as well as your learning and experience.
Have a lovely restful break. Eat vegetables and sleep a lot. I will see you when you return,
Ms. Betsy
